Too beautiful to waste
Oxious presents a beautiful collection of high-quality textiles, made to have a positive impact on both people and the environment. The collection includes hammam towels, bath towels and plaids.
The name ‘Oxious’ stands for a combination of oxygen and consciousness. As a B-corp certified, small Dutch company, Oxious actively reduces its footprint by ensuring high environmental, social and ethical standards in their production.
Oxious' towels consist of 50% re-used materials, including GRS-certified recycled cotton. As a result, just one towel saves 1,150 - 18,000 litres of water compared to terry cloth towels and non-recycled hammam towels.
To save water, the towels are not dyed. Instead the available colours are used. Oxious recycles waste from various sources and collects its own production waste. Cloths with weavings are donated to partners who give them a new use.
The beautiful, soft cloths are hand-woven by local women in a small village in Turkey. Thanks to Oxious, they work there together in a social context, under good working conditions with room for growth and development. This local production strengthens the position of these women in the community, making them more independent and economically stronger.
